The current tenants at the Station Hotel have been careful to place the appropriate emphasis on what has always been the central attraction of the pub. Five brass hand pumps take pride of place on the bar and always feature three real ales from the Earl Soham Brewery, alongside an ever changing guest beer. The Earl Soham Brewery has been brewing real ales for the past twenty years, and always provides a refreshing change from the bigger brewery’s that may be more familiar to the average drinker.
Intimate meals with close freinds and family.
Our most popular beer is always the Earl Soham Brewery’s Victoria bitter. At an easy drinking 3.6 % ABV, it provides an opportunity to while away many a long evening without having to worry about the next morning. Brewed using a standard pale malt and crystal malt mix, and Goldings and Fuggles hops, the ‘vic’ has a refreshingly light and hoppy taste.
The Gannet Mild is the perfect illustration of the Earl Soham Brewery’s commitment to brewing interesting beers that may otherwise have fallen out of favour with the drinking public. A real old fashioned mild with dark, fuggley, slightly sweet notes on the palate.
Stronger bitters from the Earl Soham brewery may include Albert Ale or Brandeston Gold. Over the winter this will also include a porter.

An important part of any bar, but often over looked, is a draught cider. Our commitment to serving the best quality products over our bar is perfectly illustrated by the Aspall Suffolk Cyder we have available all year round. Aspall’s have been making quality cyder for over three hundred years and have of late become a real success story, with their product seen regularly in bars in London and supermarkets across the country. Lets hope they don’t forget where it all started. Our range of products has of late included Aspall Cider’s Peronelle’s Blush. A bottled product that combines the best Suffolk cyder with a blackberry liquor for a unique drinking experience.
Although we may be a real ale pub, and as important as this may be, we are also dedicated to serving the best possible lagers. We are lucky to have available two exceptional important German beers that we buy through the Earl Soham Brewery.
The first of these, Veltins Pilsner at 4.8 % ABV, is the finest example of a clean, crisp German lager, brewed under the famous purity laws, as you’re likely to find.
The second is a truly unique cloudy wheat beer, Maissels Weisse at 5.7 % ABV. Best enjoyed in halves, we’re the only pub in Suffolk where you’ll see this beer.
Alongside these lagers, draught Guinness is always perfect with some oysters of a winter’s afternoon.
We also have Leffe Blonde in bottles, Becks Vier and Peroni Nasto Azzuro on draught.
