We believe that the quality of our wine list should run across the board. Our house wines are more than a match for anything on the menu, and not just the usual easy alternative that pubs settle for. Most of our wines go for under £20 a bottle, with a good choice available that changes across the seasons with the menu.
A selection of whites usually includes a good quality new world Sauvignon Blanc at £14.50, perfect with regular dishes such as goats cheese salads and simple risottos and fish dishes. We also try and have a mid price alternative such as a pinot grigio or oaky new world chardonnay that offer a different perspective when paired up with our menu items. For those wanting to spend a little more we offer a selection of French wines such as Sancerre and Chablis that offer exceptional value for money.
The main bar has a warm friendly rustic charm.
Our selection of reds starts with new world Merlot or Shiraz that really deliver in terms of value for money. Wether it’s with game, steak or lamb, these wines will keep everyone at the table interested whatever they’ve chosen from the menu. Our selection of French reds rotates regularly, between St.Emillion Grand Crus, Chateau Neuf du Papes, Crozes Hermitages, and Burgundy Pinot Noirs. These reds offer an excellent opportunity to enjoy great wine with great food.
Our list always includes one or two roses and champagnes, from house wines into the realms of more serious alternatives such as Veuve Cliquot.
At the end of an evening you may be tempted to try something from our short list of after dinner drinks. We have a VSOP Armagnac and an XO Cognac, both from small family run companies.
